Deltarune Chapter 3 Guide – How to Get the Ice Key in Round 1
If you’ve been digging into Deltarune Chapter 3 and got S-Rank on Round 1, then you're in for a surprise — there's a whole secret area waiting for you. In this guide, I’ll walk you through how I found the ICE KEY, where to go, what to do, and what to expect. It’s a little creepy, a little mysterious, and honestly super cool.
🔓 How to Unlock the Secret Area
First, make sure you’ve scored an S-Rank on Board 1. After you finish it with a high enough score, head back to the Green Room. You’ll notice a new door has appeared with a big “S” on it — go inside.
You’ll find yourself in a weird backstage space. Go left and check out the broken video game console. At first, nothing happens. Now walk back to the right and you’ll spot something new: an Odd Controller. Grab it, return to the console, and interact again. This starts the Bonus Game, which is kind of like a glitched version of Board 1.
🗡️ Finding the Sword & Fighting Monsters
At first, it looks empty — like nothing's there. But head to the bottom of the map, exactly where the hidden Mailroom was in the normal run. If you flipped the switch during your first playthrough, there should now be a hatch open.
Go inside, and you’ll find a SWORD. Take it — now you can actually attack monsters!
From here, fight every enemy you see. Keep going until you level up to LV3 (you’ll see this on the top of the screen). Once you hit LV3, you’ll be able to destroy cactus sprites.
🌵 Getting Stronger & Reaching LVMAX
Go to the right-middle section of the map. There are two cacti blocking a cave entrance. Now that you’re stronger, destroy them and enter the cave.
Inside, clear out all the enemies. After beating them, you’ll hit LV4 / LVMAX. This now lets you chop down palm trees, which means you can explore the entire map freely.
🕵️♂️ Hidden Messages & Secret Spots
Head back to where you first found the sword. There’s a new path to the bottom-left, blocked by palm trees earlier. Clear them and you’ll discover multiple caves. Go through all of them, then head up to read a secret message that appears when you walk across the black screen.
Also, on both sides of the locked pyramid door where you started, there are more hidden rooms. Go into them, walk around, and you’ll see either another hidden message or a really weird sprite…
🧊 Getting the ICE KEY
Here’s the final step: with palm trees no longer a problem, go to the left or right of the pyramid and move upward. You’ll reach a small area above the pyramid, and there’s a glowing red chest waiting for you.
Open it — boom. You’ve got the ICE KEY.
❓ What’s the Ice Key For?
Honestly? No one knows just yet. It doesn’t do anything immediately, but it’s clearly important for something later in the chapter. Just hang on to it, and keep chasing those S-Ranks — you’re gonna need it for one of the deeper secrets.
